Abstract

Several extreme weather events in 2021 caused the power generation paralysis in many parts of the United States and other countries. The sensitivity analysis of the power generation capacity of the power grid can estimate the existing power generation capacity to cope with the impact of various extreme situations. Firstly, this article analyzes the necessity of sensitivity analysis. Secondly, after discussing with the power outage report and related literature, the author lists the quantitative factors from the local to the whole that should be considered in the sensitivity analysis. Finally, this article summarizes some effective mitigation measures to extreme situations. Through the analysis of the above content, the author found that simplifying the startup measures of the power system is more likely to avoid large-scale power paralysis.
