Abstract

Moringa oleifera (MO) is a nutrient dense cruciferous vegetable which belongs to the family Moringaceae. The plant which is native of northern part of India and Pakistan has been extensively studied for its nutritional & medicinal value. In this chapter, the properties of MO, its nutritional value, phytochemicals, along with the medicinal values will be reviewed. Studies have shown that MO exhibits anti-cancer, antidiabetic, and anti-inflammatory characteristics. These characteristics and the possible bioactive contents responsible for the properties will be reviewed.
