Abstract

In “Korea Town? (Los Angeles, California) resides a family that includes grandparents, their son and his wife and their daughter-let’s call her Namhee. The grandparents were born and educated in Korea and immigrated to the United States when their son was 6 years old. Even after 25 years of residence in the United States, the dominant language of the grandparents remains Korean. It is also the language they use as the primary means of communication with their son and his wife.
