Abstract

Several professionals are making efforts at developing low-cost hardware, software, and curricular platforms, to impart high-performance computing (HPC) education, outreach, and training (EOT). These professionals are developing these HPC-enabled tools for easy deployment in classrooms and workshops. Some of the tools that are used, to impart HPC EOT, include LittleFe, a play on words, based on supercomputers. LittleFe works without any associated operating costs, imparting HPC EOT. Computational Science Education Reference (CSERD) has developed the Bootable Cluster CD and integrated curricular models, to impart EOT. CSERD has used the LittleFe platform, to impart EOT, to several academic professionals, enabling HPC experience for their students. A number of challenges also need to be overcome in developing HPC-enabled tools and imparting EOT.
