Description

The following document is an indenture between Benjamin Stratton and his wife (first part) and Susan U. Niemcewicz (second part) on the purchase of land in Westfield, New Jersey. The indenture outlines the following: Whereas the first part was justly indebted to the said party of the second part in the sum of five hundred dollars in gold or silver currency of the United States of America secured to be paid to the said party of the second part or to the Executors in the sum of one thousand dollars in gold or silver currency of the United States of America and for and in consideration of the sum of five shillings to them in hand paid by the said party of the second part, the receipt acknowledged, and to be therewith fully satisfied, contended and paid, have granted, bargained and sold, aliened released, enfeoffed, conveyed and confirmed, and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell, alien, release, enfeoff, convey and confirm unto the said party of the second part, her heirs and assigns, a piece of land lying in the township of Westfield.
