Description
S. Sedgwick wrote from Lebanon, New York to Susan Niemcewicz at Ursino, near Elizabethtown, New Jersey. By the time Susan received Sedgwick’s letter, she would have been apprised of the melancholy termination of Mr. Kean’s (Peter Kean) illness. Issued his sympathy over the death of Susan’s son, Peter Kean. He trusted that they would be able to render to dear little Sally. Sedgwick was grieved over not having better accounts to give of her. She was not as well as she was the day before. Sally’s situation was a critical one. Julia was behaving admirably with so much self control and tenderness. She was doing well except for an obstinate cold in her head. Sedgwick watched her carefully and made sure she did not lose any sleep. The doctors had just arrived for Sally. The debility Sedgwick noted earlier in his letter, the doctors felt was not to a degree to justify it.
