    Julian Niemcewicz wrote from Paris, France to an esteemed friend, unaddressed. Julian had just received his friend’s letter and thanked them for their kindness. At 80 years of age, Julian could not expect to be strong and healthy. His feet were weak and he was ordered to exercise, but he could not follow that command. What pained him the most was the sickness of his faithful servant who had a very severe case of Rheumatism and kept in bed, and Julian was obliged to hire another servant. Thanked his friend for the cap they sent him. It was too fashionable for an old decrepit man, but because it came from his friend, it was dear to him. Thanked his friend in their unremitting exertions on behalf of the associations to promote the education of Polish Children. They received 600 Franks from a benevolent friend, if they received more assistance, they would be able to maintain the schools for another year. In the postscript, Julian asked to be remembered to their mutual acquaintances and friends and asked “How does go the Poetry?”
