Susan Kean, Elizabeth, NJ, wrote a draft letter to Gustav Risberg on the date of July 18, 1796 on this letter from Risberg. She discussed the issue with the dividends from the Turnpike. She expected to sell one of her farms and receive a dividend from her father's estate. Susan wanted to ensure that her son did not share in her misfortunes. She wanted to approach the property situation cautiously as she knew the reputation of Mr. Tilghman as being liberal. He advised that the Turnpike would likely not have a dramatic increase in dividend revenue for a year. He advised against purchasing bank stock. He reiterated that the colored satins remained unsold. When Dr. Rush constructed two back buildings that created water stoppage that in turn flooded the Kean property, especially during the rain. The previous owner of the properties, Mr. Ketlands, gave a slice of the property twice. This created a dispute between Mrs. Kean and Dr. Rush over who owned the property as their deed stated both did.

One of Mr. Ricketts’ Canal Lottery Tickets drew. One of the finalist prizes. Risberg credited Susan’s account with $10.20.

Marianne inquired about Jane Grove Corvaisier, who lived in Germantown when Mr. Bradford died [U.S. Attorney General William Bradford 1755-1795]. Corvaisier was melancholy and recently moved in with Mrs. Duponseau (?).
